Children’s Braces

Children’s teeth shift a lot during their growing phase, especially when milk teeth are being replaced by permanent adult ones. Sometimes, habits from early childhood, such as sucking thumbs or fingers, can also affect the way that adult teeth come in. A beautiful smile and mouth full of straight, white teeth can really boost a child’s confidence and self-esteem. Happily, realignment treatment through the use of children’s braces can be particularly effective when started at a young age.

A great option for younger patients is fixed metal or ceramic braces as these can be fine-tuned to make tiny adjustments to guide the teeth into position. Modern materials and sophisticated designs mean that treatment is relative fast-acting and comfortable. Other options include custom-made removable braces, such as Invisalign Teen. We strongly recommend that children and young people wear mouth guards during treatment whenever they are playing contact sports or participating in activities such as cycling, trampolining and gymnastics.

FAQs

You can give us a call or drop in to fill in a registration form for you and your children at your convenience.

We recommend registering for a dentist as early as possible, even before you child has his or her first tooth. That way, we can get to know them and they can grow accustomed to visiting us early on. We can also keep an eye on their baby teeth and spot any potential concerns early on.

All our staff are trained in working with nervous patients and will do their utmost to put children at ease. We can offer tours of the surgery and provide all kinds of comforts such as playing their favourite music or audio books while they are seen.

Brushing and flossing are crucial. Use a soft-bristle brush and floss threaders to clean around wires and brackets. Regular dental check-ups are also essential.

What our Patients say?

Dear Dr Shabs. This is just a note to say thank you SO MUCH for everything you’ve done for me and my disasterous teeth! Ever since I smashed my front teeth in freshers week I felt like I’ve been in the best possible hands! However, I’ve just finished a teaching course and am going to go and teach English in Jordan in two weeks time and therefore have had to register somewhere else 🙁 Whenever I’m back living in Manchester again though, I’ll be back. Cheers again, Helen (the one who does Arabic)
