Metal Wire Braces Cheadle

Metal or wire brackets are what most people picture when they think about traditional teeth straightening techniques. Despite the range of cosmetic dentistry options out there nowadays, metal braces remain a popular realignment solution. Their design is far less intrusive than in years gone by, the application is much less painful, and the results are highly effective. They are not quite as expensive as other options, and coloured bands let patients express their personality.

Heat-activated archwires fix the brace in position, while constant, gradual pressure enables realignment to happen with minimal discomfort. Successful alignment subsequently allows patients to clean their teeth more easily, thus improving oral hygiene and reducing decay. Corrected bites can also help reduce any jaw pain you may have been experiencing while chewing, talking or yawning.

During your treatment with Metal Wire Braces in Cheadle, it’s essential to attend regular orthodontic appointments. These visits allow your orthodontist to monitor your progress, make any necessary adjustments, and ensure that your treatment stays on track.

FAQs

Treatment time depends on how far your teeth need to move. Most courses of treatment with fixed metal braces take between 12 and 24 months, and your orthodontist will give you an estimated timeline at your consultation.

You may feel some pressure or tenderness for a few days after your braces are fitted and after each adjustment. This usually settles quickly, and orthodontic wax can help if the brackets rub against your cheeks or lips.

Avoid hard, sticky and chewy foods such as toffee, boiled sweets, crusty bread and whole apples, as these can break brackets or bend the wire. Cutting food into small pieces makes eating easier.

Brushing and flossing are crucial. Use a soft-bristle brush and floss threaders or interdental brushes to clean around wires and brackets, and keep up regular dental check-ups throughout your treatment.

Metal braces at Orthodontics Manchester start from £1,000. The exact cost depends on your individual treatment plan, which we will explain at your consultation. Payment plans are available.
